Splitting Recordings Automatically

When making a recording with the controller WireTap Studio can split a recording into separate files by shift clicking on the record button.

WireTap Studio can also be set to split recordings automatically as they are made based on duration, file size or points of silence.

Split options for recordings made with the controller are set in the saving pane of the preferences.

Split options for recordings made with sessions are set in the saving pane of each session.

To split a recording automatically:

  1. For recordings made with the controller go to the WireTap Studio menu and select Preferences, then click on the Saving button.

    For recordings made with a session go to the Window menu and select Recording Sessions. Select the session and click on Edit, then click on the Saving button.

  2. Set the Split menu to On Duration to split recordings into separate tracks of equal duration.
  3. Set the Split menu to On Size to split recordings into separate tracks of equal file size.
  4. Set the Split menu to On Silence to split recordings into separate tracks bounded by silence. This is useful for splitting a long recording into separate songs.
  5. Then click on the Configure button to specify an audio level for silence and how long the source should be at that level to qualify for a split.

  7. Click on OK and the next recording will be split into separate tracks based on the criteria set in the Split menu.
